The Financial Exchange
Money moves through channels and every movement is a balanced double entry: two ledger columns that must stay equal. An idempotency key keeps a retried payment safe, and settlement is separate from access.

Exhibit 08 · Fintech
The same idempotency key is recognised, so no second entry is posted and nothing is charged twice.
Settlement is separate from access, so access can be granted while settlement is still pending.
A payment waits at the intake desk. Choose the flow, whether the network retries, and whether settlement is delayed.
The request arrives at the intake desk carrying an idempotency key. The key is what makes a retry safe: the same key can post an entry only once.
Convert · not neededskipped for this input
No conversion: the amount is already in the settlement currency.
The movement is recorded as a balanced double entry: 500 units to the debit column and 500 units to the credit column. The two towers grow by the same amount.
Network retry · same keyskipped for this input
The network resends the same request. The idempotency key is recognised, so no second entry is posted and nothing is charged twice.
The settlement vault settles the funds. The ledger was balanced before this, and stays balanced.
Grant access · not this flowskipped for this input
Access is granted once settlement completes. Here the gate opens after the vault closes.
A payment enters at the intake desk carrying an idempotency key. If the flow needs it, the conversion gears turn, then the movement is posted as a balanced double entry: the debit tower and the credit tower rise by the same amount, and they must stay equal. The settlement vault settles the funds, and the access gate opens when access is granted.
The amounts are deliberately round and fictitious. What matters is the shape: debit equals credit, one entry per key, and a settlement step that stands apart from granting access.
The model shows the structure of balanced movements, not any real balances.
