The fintech company I founded and led as CEO and product lead: a crypto investing robo-advisor that raised accelerator funding and foundation grants, and led to my next company, Yuki.

What it was

ComiBlock launched in February 2021 as a goal-based crypto investing robo-advisor: planning tools, advice and curated portfolios for anyone with a smartphone, at a time when most crypto products were exchanges that left people to trade on their own.

Traction

Funding. In September 2022 ComiBlock raised US$25,000 from Expert Dojo, a California growth accelerator, at a valuation of around US$3 million.
Grants. Around US$15,000 in grants from the Celo and Stellar foundations.
Assets. The platform grew to US$400,000 in assets under management, and by September 2022 had processed over US$420,000 in trade volume.
Team. A tight team of four engineers and one designer built and ran the product.

My role

Founder, CEO and product lead, 2021 to 2023. I set the company's direction, raised its funding and shaped every product; my engineering team built them.

What came next

The infrastructure built for the robo-advisor became a company of its own. Yuki offered other African fintechs wallets and digital-asset rails through APIs, partnered with a neobank, and won a DeFi award at Celo Camp.
